Varnish Removal Efficiency of Commercial Cleaners

Varnish accumulation resulting from lubricant degradation can adversely affect the efficient operation of lubricated mechanical systems. There are various chemical cleaners commercially available that claim to remove varnish, but data enabling quantitative comparisons performance these not available. This article reports use a custom test system enables in situ imaging varnish removal directly compare nine blinded study. Multiple qualitative and metrics were used evaluate cleaners. A wide range efficiency was observed cleaner cleaner, complete just few hours almost no after tens testing. The results demonstrated utility rig for characterizing measuring emphasized importance when selecting given application.
